About Becca
Singer, songwriter, performer, show producer Becca Hess is rooted in a country music legacy (Dad/BCCMA Hall-of-Famer Kenny Hess) but her sound is all her own. With classic influences and an eclectic, fresh approach, Becca’s compelling performances and big rich voice captivate listeners. Equally at home on the intimate stage or in front of festival crowds, Becca has opened for major artists such as Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Travis Tritt, The Band Perry and Wynonna Judd.
Her self-released debut single “It Ain’t Even Raining” worked its way up the Canadian charts and the accompanying video aired for 6 weeks on TNN’s Top Ten as ‘Rising Star’ – no small feat for a new indie artist. After evacuating Fort McMurray in the 2016 fires, Becca wrote and released the charged anthem “Mountain Child” which landed 4 Alberta Country Music Award nominations, including “Song and Video of the Year”.
Her soulful songwriting radiates throughout her sophomore album “Truth“ which was recorded under the production guidance of Tom and Carly McKillip (CCMA Producers of the Year) and bolstered by two years working with Nashville producer and songwriter Byron Hill (George Strait, George Jones, Ray Charles). The lead out single “Stranded” debuted on SiriusXM Country and garnered 4 BC Country Music Award nominations including Female Artist of the Year and Single of the Year following a Canada wide radio tour. The 90s inspired “I Don’t Do Love Songs” was featured alongside Jon Pardi in Hallmark’s “A Summer Romance”
No stranger to the flip side of the stage, Becca produced one of Canada’s biggest country music festivals, Rockin’ River Music Fest, for more than a decade, which won her the title of Industry Person of the Year at the BCCMAs. Years of producing live music events has honed Becca’s skills as an entrepreneur and artist.
2021 fall single “Sleeping Around” was added to Sirius XM Country in its first week. Becca’s single “It Ain’t Love Yet” held the #2 spot on the independent charts in 2022 and the music video found a home among the LGBTQ+ community. Becca released a third single last year, a self-penned Christmas song “Bring Me Love” which broke the Top Ten indie holiday charts and caught the attention of Spotify editorial holiday playlists.
Becca found success with “Love You Back” featuring Canadian country music legend George Canyon. This powerhouse track with a unique perspective was co-written by Aaron Goodvin and quickly became a Top Ten single on the Indigenous Music Countdown. “Love You Back” has been in rotation on Sirius XM Country for a record 34 months as of April, 2025. Becca secured a spot in the Top 50 Artists on Sirius XM Country.
2023 release “I Don’t Need You Anymore” was written by Becca and produced by Tom McKillip and has over 180,000 Spotify streams. Becca was named 2023 Country Artist of the Year at the Fraser Valley Music Awards and received a special recognition award for Excellence by an Indigenous Artist. Becca also holds the title of Abbotsford’s Entertainer of the Year in 2023 and 2024.
Becca is the recent recipient of a Creative BC grant that funded the recording of two new singles produced by Carly McKillip. The first of these two singles, “RENO” is set to release May 23rd to all streaming platforms and heads to Canadian radio May 26th.
